A Look Back with Humility and A Look Forward with Hope – Happy Holidays from Whitridge Associates

It goes without saying, 2020 has been a challenge. Each new year we make goals for the next 365 days, preparing ourselves for success and for potential road blocks along the way. As we made our resolutions for 2020, we had no way of knowing the unprecedented challenges COVID would bring to our doorstep. From quarantining with our families, to adjusting to working fully remote, we pivoted, recalculated, and readjusted time and time again. Although we were tested, our resilience shined and we enter 2021 with a renewed sense of optimism for what this next year will bring. 

Many, if not all, industries were strained by the pandemic and the staffing industry was no exception. Whitridge’s Business and Technology Recruiters saw hiring slow down as clients navigated the details of COVID. However, business never stopped, we continued talking with qualified candidates in the IT and Engineering space about their career goals and how our recruiters could help them get there. Our Account Managers discussed strategic hiring with our clients from the Financial Services industry to Life Sciences and beyond to ensure they could complete important projects by onboarding the best talent to push them to the finish line. We’ve seen the pace of hiring quicken as clients look to 2021 and we promise to be there to assist both candidates and clients in reaching their goals, hard times or not. 

We know, as we look to the holidays and beyond, that many in our community have not been as lucky as we have been to continue to work during this time and we felt it was our duty to give back in any way we could. We were able to donate dozens of Shaw’s gift cards to our community food bank so local families could share a holiday dinner with their loved ones this year. If you are able to do so, we encourage everyone to look outside themselves to see where they can be of service to others – there is no greater gift to give.

It’s easy to look back on years that were easy, where you’re running on all cylinders and you can’t seem to lose and think, “wow that was great.” But sometimes, it’s the years that are a challenge that show you what your team is really made of, that show you what grit, determination, and resilience can do when put to the test. So, it is with great humility that we look back on 2020 as a year that taught us so much and now forward to 2021 with hope.
